SHAH ALAM, March 9 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj officiated Masjid Al-Ehsan in Section 24, in conjunction with the Ihya’ Ramadan programme with the people this evening.

During the ceremony, His Royal Highness also presented Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions to 510 asnaf (tithe recipients), comprising 156 fakir, 300 miskin, and 54 muallaf, involving RM255,000, with each recipient receiving RM500.

The Ruler also received the presentation of business zakat contributions from CIMB Islamic Bank Berhad amounting to RM1.65 million and from SIRIM Berhad totalling RM1.456 million.

Following the presentation ceremony, Sultan Sharafuddin broke fast with members of the public before performing the Maghrib and Isyak obligatory prayers as well as the Tarawih prayers with the congregation at the mosque.

Earlier, the arrival of His Royal Highness, accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin and the Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah, was welcomed by state executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah and the state executive councillor for public health and the environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.

Also present were Selangor State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Dato' Salehuddin Saidin, Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Dato' Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad, and the Selangor Mufti Dato' Anhar Opir.

Masjid Al‑Ehsan, which was built on a 3.6-acre site, began construction in 2017 and was fully completed in 2023 at a cost of RM14 million, fully funded by the state government.

The mosque can accommodate up to 2,000 congregants at any one time and serves as a centre for worship as well as religious activities for the local community.
