HULU LANGAT, March 1 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graciously officiated the opening of Masjid Prima Saujana in Kajang in conjunction with the Ihya’ Ramadan programme with the people yesterday.
His Royal Highness was accompanied by the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.
The mosque, built on a 1.5-acre site, was constructed at a cost of RM14.5 million through public and corporate contributions to provide comfortable and conducive worship facilities for the local Muslim community.
Construction began in February 2018, and it was officially opened on March 28, 2024. The mosque features a modern design, with a spacious main prayer hall, comfortable ablution facilities, ample parking, and worshipper-friendly amenities, including those for the elderly and the disabled.
It can accommodate up to 2,800 congregants at a time, serving as a centre for worship and religious activities for the local community.
During the event, Sultan Sharafuddin also graciously presented Hari Raya Aidilfitri contributions to 528 individuals, comprising 222 hardcore poor, 204 poor, and 102 muallafs (converts), amounting to RM264,000.
The contributions reflect the Crown and the state government's concern in ensuring that the welfare of those in need continues to be safeguarded, particularly throughout the Ramadan fasting month.
His Royal Highness later broke fast and performed the Maghrib, Isyak, and Tarawih prayers together with the people.
Also in attendance were Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, State Secretary Dato' Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, state executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah, and Selangor Mufti Dato' Setia Anhar Opir.
