SHAH ALAM, Feb 23 — The Selangor unit of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) is intent on filing a police report after one of its enforcement officers became the target of firecrackers thrown by a group of motorcyclists in Bandar Tasik Puteri, Rawang.

Selangor JPJ director Azrin Borhan said the department had reviewed a video of the incident circulating on social media and condemned the act as unacceptable.

“This behaviour should never occur, regardless of the reason, especially during Ramadan. No injuries were reported among the officers on duty, and we are examining the next steps to be taken. I have directed the officer involved to lodge a police report,” he said, as reported by Berita Harian.

The incident reportedly occurred around 10pm on Friday when the officer was conducting a Chinese New Year ops patrol (Ops Tahun Baharu Cina) on the Kuala Lumpur–Kuala Selangor Expressway (LATAR).

Prior to the incident, a motorcyclist had been stopped for not wearing a helmet. Checks revealed the individual did not have a licence, and the vehicle was uninsured.

When the summons was issued, several other motorcyclists allegedly threw firecrackers towards the enforcement team.

Meanwhile, the Gombak District Police Headquarters (IPD) said it has yet to receive an official report regarding the incident.
