SHAH ALAM, Feb 19 — Dato’ Zabidah Safar today reported to the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) as the city’s 13th mayor, replacing Dato’ Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim and becoming the first woman to lead the council.
MBSA said Zabidah was elected to replace Fauzi after he was promoted to the Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Ministry’s Department of the Director-General of Land and Mines.
“With her vast experience in public service, it is hoped that Zabidah would continue empowering MBSA’s services and excellence as a progressive and competitive local authority,” MBSA said on Facebook.
The swearing-in ceremony for Zabidah will be held at Wisma MBSA here tomorrow at 9.30am.
Meanwhile, Fauzi, 59, was appointed Shah Alam mayor in June 2024, having been Subang Jaya mayor for a year before that.
Throughout his time at MBSA, Fauzi emphasised improvements to the quality of municipal services and ensured staff efficiency to ensure Shah Alam residents’ well-being.
