SHAH ALAM, Feb 16 — This year’s Malaysian Games (SUKMA) host Selangor is prepared to share tips with Kelantan, which will host the biennial event in 2028, said state executive councillor for youth, sports and entrepreneurship Mohd Najwan Halimi.

He added that the Selangor SUKMA 2026 Secretariat is committed to sharing its expertise and experience to facilitate Kelantan’s early preparations.

“The Selangor (SUKMA) secretariat is executing various plans to hold SUKMA in Selangor, so we can help Kelantan in these aspects.

“We also welcome Kelantan SUKMA Secretariat officers to (accompany) the Selangor secretariat to gain early experience ahead of Kelantan SUKMA 2028,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, Najwan paid a courtesy visit with the SUKMA XXII and Para SUKMA Selangor 2026 Secretariat to Kelantan executive councillor for youth, sports and community unity Zamakhshari Muhamad today.

Previously, the same delegation paid a courtesy visit to Sabah, Sarawak and Terengganu, on a traditional SUKMA host tour, to formally invite other state governments to the biennial sporting event.

The 22nd SUKMA this year will be held from August 15 to 24 with its opening ceremony at the Sepang International Circuit, while Para SUKMA will be held from September 5 to 14.

The biennial games will see 474 events involving 37 sports contested at 52 venues across Selangor’s nine districts (with track cycling at the National Velodrome in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan), while Para SUKMA will see 10 sports with 316 events held in Petaling and Klang.

Previously, Najwan said the progress of venue upgrades for SUKMA was at 80 per cent on February 8, with completion scheduled for May, according to the secretariat’s timeline.
