SEREMBAN, Feb 14 — The Transport Ministry (MOT) will improve KTM Komuter services, including reviewing and revising train schedules between Seremban and Kuala Lumpur to reduce waiting times and shorten journeys.
Its minister Anthony Loke said further discussions will take place after the Chinese New Year to finalise and implement these measures, ensuring a smoother and more comfortable commute.
“Travel from Seremban to Kuala Lumpur experiences delays. Many commuters report journeys taking one hour and 45 minutes, and sometimes up to two hours.
“The slowdowns are due to ongoing track upgrades along the route. Some sections are reduced to a single track, affecting train flow and schedule reliability,” he told the media after distributing CNY gift packs to Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) passengers at the Seremban Railway Station today.
Loke added that the ongoing upgrades to Seremban Railway Station and the construction of the new station have also caused some inconvenience to passengers, and appealed for the public’s understanding.
“We are doing our best, but the new station is expected to take another year to complete. We hope it will provide greater comfort for Seremban commuters,” he said.
Meanwhile, efforts are underway to accelerate the Klang Valley Double Track Electrification Phase 2 (KVDT2) project, which is currently on schedule.
“The project is inherently challenging because work must be carried out on active tracks. While work is being done on one track, trains continue to run on the other.
“Safety considerations limit the time machinery can be on the tracks each day, which naturally slows construction,” Loke said.
