SHAH ALAM, Feb 11 — The Shah Alam City Council’s (MBSA) MySave Food programme continues this year at five Ramadan bazaars, said Shah Alam Mayor Dato’ Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim.
He added that the initiative, which will be held from February 23 to March 13, will involve the Section 13, Section 17, Section 19, Section 28, and Section U16 bazaars.
“Through this programme, traders must send their excess, unsold, still safely edible food to MBSA staff and volunteers at their tent (at bazaars).
“The food will be logged, weighed and labelled before being distributed to surau, mosques, low-cost apartments, and public and private higher learning institution student dormitories for them to enjoy after tarawih prayers,” he said.

Fauzi said this after a ceremony to hand over Ramadan bazaar permits to 2,123 traders at the MBSA Convention Centre here today. Also present was Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
This year, 616 volunteers from various agencies will be involved in the initiative, and MBSA said it welcomes non-governmental organisations’ participation.
MBSA launched the MySave Food programme in 2020 to collect excess food from Ramadan bazaars to distribute to the needy.
