Homeless woman found dead in Sentul

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 10 — An unidentified homeless woman was found dead, believed to have been murdered, in front of SMK (L) Methodist Sentul along Jalan Sentul yesterday.

Sentul police chief ACP Ahmad Sukarno Mohd Zahari said police received information about the incident from the public at 7.20am.

Upon arrival, they found a woman, believed to be in her 50s or 60s, lying with severe head injuries, while her ethnicity could not be determined.

“A physical examination revealed a four-centimetre wound on the right side of her head above the ear and swelling on the eyelids. Medical personnel later confirmed her death,” he said in a statement today.

The police subsequently detained a 46-year-old unemployed local man in the Sentul area last night to assist investigations.

Preliminary investigations indicate the suspect is believed to have used a piece of wood to strike the victim’s head. Further investigations will continue after a remand order is obtained.

The police will apply for a remand order today, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
