KUCHING, Feb 8 — The General Operations Force (GOF) Sarawak Brigade seized RM3.18 million worth of fireworks under Ops Taring Charlie conducted at four separate locations from Wednesday (February 4) to yesterday.
Its commander SAC Lim Bak Phai said three men, 31 to 42, were arrested in two raids in Padawan and RM1,795,690 worth of fireworks and a vehicle were seized.
“In raids in Kuching, Serian, Sibu, and Miri, five men, 22 to 70, were arrested and various fireworks were also seized,” he said in a statement today, adding that that the value of seizures was estimated to be RM1,390,608.
All suspects and seized items have been handed over to the respective district police headquarters for further investigation and action under Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957.
