SHAH ALAM, Feb 5 — More than RM916,000 worth of non-compliant animal and agricultural products were seized by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) at Westports in Klang yesterday, the New Straits Times reported.

Port Klang AKPS commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the seizures were made following several physical inspections at the CFS4 Container Inspection Site, which uncovered three consignments that violated the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (MAQIS) import requirements.

Among the items confiscated were about 16,000kg of frozen duck meat from Ireland, valued at approximately RM350,000, which was imported without a valid MAQIS permit.

Another seizure involved 24,000kg of frozen pork from Belgium, estimated to be worth RM461,000, which did not comply with conditions stipulated in its MAQIS import permit.

AKPS also confiscated a 3,500kg shipment of coffee beans from Colombia, valued at around RM100,000, for failing to produce a Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA) 3P certificate, as required under existing regulations.

Port Klang AKPS commander Datuk Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal and another officer open up a box to check on its contents in Port Klang on January 17, 2026.

“All the consignments were seized to prevent the risk of animal disease, ensure food safety, and protect national public health interests,” he said, as reported.

Nik Ezanee said the case is being investigated under the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011.

“Port Klang AKPS remains committed to preventing the entry of prohibited and non-compliant goods to safeguard the nation’s security, well-being and sovereignty,” he added.
