‘National digital transformation to focus on six sectors’

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 4 — The Digital Ministry is focusing on six impactful areas to accelerate digital transformation and drive the national digital agenda in the first half (H1) of this year.

Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the six key areas are healthcare, transport, agriculture, digitalisation of small and medium enterprises (SME), enforcement, and government services.

“From these six areas, we will look at how we can empower people in these sectors so that they understand, access and adopt existing technology. That is where you’re going to see the true impact of digital transformation,” he said after launching Merdeka 118 as the nation’s first MD Nexus here today.

Gobind also said the government must help bridge the gap in new technology, ensuring that these efforts translate into real, tangible impact for the people.

“This is precisely why we are focusing on these six impactful areas, to ensure what we do today delivers meaningful benefits to society at large,” he said.

The MD Nexus recognition, under the MD Location Recognition initiative by the Digital Ministry and led by Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), recognises premier, high-quality business premises designed to support digital businesses, services and innovation.

“As Malaysia’s first MD Nexus, Merdeka 118 represents the tangible progress of our mission to weave technology into the very fabric of our economy and society.

“This launch is a clear sign that our national digitalisation agenda is moving from policy papers to reality,” Gobind added.
