SHAH ALAM, Feb 3 — Selangor has allocated RM8 million for the Aidilfitri Jom Shopping voucher programme this year, said state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman, an increase from last year’s RM7.2 million.
He said the hike is to ensure more low-income families receive the benefit.
“There has been an increase for Raya vouchers as there was more funding, and for now, we have opened registrations.
“For elected representatives who think recipient slots in their areas are too few and need to be increased, they can submit an application to (my) office. We will consider it,” Papparaidu told Media Selangor.

The RM200 Jom Shopping vouchers were launched to help households earning less than RM3,000 buy necessities for festive periods at selected supermarkets.
This year, the state government has set aside RM18.48 million for the programme — RM2 million more than last year — which is set to benefit 92,400 recipients for Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year, and Deepavali.
The state government will also distribute RM200 Jom Shopping vouchers to 8,317 military veterans for Warriors’ Day, with an overall allocation of RM1.7 million.
