Police probe Kajang incident of man sitting in highway lane

SHAH ALAM, Jan 25 — The police are investigating an incident in Kajang in which a man was seen sitting cross-legged in the middle of a highway lane, causing traffic congestion and posing a danger to road users.

Kajang police chief Naazron Abdul Yusof said that investigations were initiated after a video of the incident circulated on social media.

“The man was the driver of the lorry parked on the emergency lane,” he said in a media statement yesterday.

A 21-second video uploaded to Facebook went viral, showing a man sitting cross-legged on the roadway while holding a phone, as oncoming vehicles switched lanes to avoid hitting him.

Naazron added that the case is being probed under offences related to parking a vehicle in a manner that causes obstruction, danger or undue inconvenience to other road users, as well as for rash or negligent behaviour that endangers human life.

He urged members of the public with information on the incident to contact the nearest police station.
