SHAH ALAM, Jan 23 — New Selangor State Education Department (JPNS) director Datin Wan Nor Ashikin Abd Kassim is determined to holistically boost student and teacher achievements.

She expressed commitment to ensuring the welfare and needs of the school community, so as to improve the efficiency of the state’s education system.

“On my part, I will continue what has worked well before. For education, I hope every student in Selangor has the best access to learning.

“We also want to develop teachers and administrators so they can perform their duties efficiently, and so students can also achieve success in a holistic manner,” she said when receiving a courtesy call from Media Selangor, led by its chief executive officer Mohamed Fareed Mohamed Ashaaree, at the JPNS headquarters here today.

Wan Nor Ashikin expressed hope that Selangor teachers increase their understanding and skills in various fields, including digital technology.

She said mastery of such skills is important to ensure teaching and learning (PdP) is done in a more effective and interesting way, in line with students’ current needs.

“We will look into the needs we can provide for with the allocations we have, for us to ensure PdP is implemented well and students have fun while learning, and we enjoy working,” she added.

Wan Nor Ashikin’s appointment as JPNS director took effect on January 7, and she replaced Jafri Abu, who retired last year.
