KSSA development on schedule, to be ready by mid-2029

SHAH ALAM, Jan 19 — The Shah Alam Sports Complex’s (KSSA) development is progressing according to schedule, with overall construction progress currently at 6.61 per cent.

The project is now in its initial phase, which involves earthworks and site preparation ahead of the main construction stage.

“All works are being carried out in stages with close monitoring to minimise the impact on the surrounding community. The project is targeted for completion by the middle of 2029.

“We thank local residents and the public for their patience and continued support,” it said in a Facebook post today.

The KSSA redevelopment project includes the construction of Selangor FC’s new home stadium with an estimated capacity of between 30,000 and 40,000, as well as recreational areas for public use.

The previous iconic Shah Alam Stadium, which served as the home ground of The Red Giants, was demolished in July last year to make way for the development of the sports complex.

The new complex is expected to feature a wide range of facilities, including a hotel, an enclosed theatre building and commercial spaces, all with direct connectivity to the Light Rail Transit (LRT) system.

Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the KSSA redevelopment would restore the glory of the Shah Alam Stadium while positioning it as a new icon for Selangor that unites the people through innovation and sports.

The project goes beyond the development of modern infrastructure, as it also symbolises unity and a strong sense of patriotism among the people of the state.

He said the sports complex will incorporate hybrid features that allow it to be adapted for various activities, including concerts, large-scale events, and public gatherings such as wedding ceremonies.
