KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 16 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will ensure its procurement processes follow good governance principles, to safeguard public interest and maintain community confidence in the institution.
Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said PDRM has taken note of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s statement on procurement matters involving the force, and will take the necessary actions.
“PDRM will implement all necessary actions professionally, transparently, and with integrity, in line with the laws, policies, and directives established by the government,” Khalid said in a statement today.
Earlier today, Anwar ordered all procurement decisions for the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) linked to corruption to be temporarily frozen until procurement processes are fully complied with.
Anwar said the government, through the relevant ministries, will examine and restructure procurements to ensure the transparency of the existing system.
