SHAH ALAM, Jan 16 — Selangor head coach Kim Pan Gon says he is developing the Red Giants gameplay, or “DNA”, based on strength, courage and speed.
The manager from South Korea said DNA development is important for Selangor to achieve its future targets and make their supporters proud, reported Berita Harian.
Pan Gon said he is still identifying his players’ strengths, even though he knows some of them from his previous stint as Harimau Malaya manager.
“We have a clear target to achieve, so we are trying to develop the Selangor way, build our own DNA, to become a strong team with good football characteristics.
“We want to show our best performance and quality football to supporters. When they come here, we (want to) show interesting, dynamic, quick and energetic football.
“I think our journey is still long, but I can see the players’ reactions. They like doing it, they want to do it, and that’s important. I hope we can go further,” he added.
Pan Gon, who was announced as Selangor’s new manager on January 5, brought quick results when he steered the team to two consecutive wins.
Their success in defeating Negeri Sembilan 1-0 at the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) Stadium on Wednesday allowed the Red Giants to climb to the second rank of the Super League with 31 points after 15 matches.
Pan Gon and Selangor’s next task is the first Malaysia Cup match against Kelantan at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium on January 19.
