SHAH ALAM, Jan 14 — State government scholarships are opening up career opportunities in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) while helping young people build more stable lives.
Carsome Academy alumnus Fairuz Ilham Ahmad Kamal, 23, said the Smart Selangor Technical and Professional Skills Initiative (Iktisass) scholarship was a key factor in enabling him to secure employment with automotive company Carsome.
“Before joining this programme, my life was very different. With only the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia certificate, I worked as a technician’s assistant at an automotive company without a clear direction.
“After discovering Carsome Academy through Instagram, I decided to apply and, Alhamdulillah (God be praised), I was accepted. In addition, the Iktisass scholarship eased my father’s financial burden throughout the 12 months of study here,” he said.

Fairuz was speaking to Media Selangor at Yayasan MBI's Hero-in-Auto Scholarship Award Presentation Ceremony, officiated by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari at the Carsome Certified Lab in Bukit Raja, Klang yesterday.
The fourth of six siblings also encouraged young people to explore the TVET field as an alternative to the conventional academic pathway.
“To young people, be brave enough to take a step further. If you are not interested in academics, TVET is a very good option,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Afiq Haziq Md Zulkarnain, 19, described the scholarship as a pathway to realising his hard work towards a long-term career.
“I have been interested in the automotive field since I was young. At Carsome Academy, we are given extensive exposure. Thank you to Yayasan MBI for helping to ease the burden of tuition fees during my studies,” he said.
For Muhammad Fakhrul Aiman Usmadi, 23, the scholarship enabled him to continue his studies without placing a burden on his family.
“This scholarship has helped me to pursue my studies and reduce my father’s commitments. At Carsome Academy, I am confident that we can go far because it is recognised and provides a great deal of useful knowledge,” he said.
