SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 — New Selangor FC head coach Kim Pan Gon enjoyed a perfect start after guiding the Red Giants to a convincing 5–2 victory over DPMM FC in a Super League match at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium last night.
Selangor, who suffered a 0–2 defeat to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in their last match, showed an impressive resurgence by opening the scoring just five minutes into the match through prolific striker Chrigor Moraes.
The import forward grabbed the spotlight again when he headed home a cross from Nooa Laine in the 10th minute to strengthen Selangor’s early dominance.
The hosts narrowed the deficit before halftime through Hakeme Yazid’s strike in the 42nd minute, but Selangor maintained control as Laine netted the third goal shortly after the restart.
Selangor’s strong momentum continued when Moraes completed his hat-trick in the 58th minute to make it 4–1.
DPMM attempted a comeback and scored their second goal through Miguel Oliveira four minutes later, but it proved too little, too late.
Moraes sealed a commanding 5–2 win for Pan Gon’s side by scoring his fourth goal in stoppage time, emerging as the undisputed man of the match.
The victory sees Selangor, currently fourth in the Super League standings, collect 28 points from 14 matches, with nine wins, one draw and four defeats.
The result ended DPMM’s four-match winning streak, leaving them seventh in the league with 17 points.
Moraes’ outstanding performance and Pan Gon’s immediate impact are expected to boost the Red Giants’ confidence as they push for greater consistency for the remainder of the season.
