GOMBAK, Jan 5 — The Selangor Indian Entrepreneur Equipment Assistance (i-SEED) will be distributed in two phases this year, up from one in the previous year.

State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said the initiative aims to ensure a more orderly distribution process and to speed up the delivery of assistance to entrepreneurs in need.

“Last year, i-SEED assistance was distributed in only one phase, which caused the delivery period to take longer,” he said during a media conference at Menara Majlis Perbandaran Selayang today.

Papparaidu added that this year's i-SEED registration is open to existing recipients as well as prospective recipients who require related goods and equipment.

“The first phase is expected to take place before June, while the second phase will be around November. This approach will ensure that assistance reaches entrepreneurs in a more structured and effective manner,” he said.

Through the 2026 Selangor Budget, the state government has allocated RM1 million to continue i-SEED throughout the year.

Launched on April 7, 2021, the programme aims to improve the economic standing of the state's Indian community by providing business equipment tailored to the nature of their enterprises.

To be eligible for i-SEED assistance, applicants must be:

  • Selangor-born or have resided in the state for more than 10 years.

  • Have an individual or household income below RM3,000 per month.

  • Operate their business in Selangor.
