SHAH ALAM, Jan 5 — The state government will host the Selangor-level Thaipusam celebration on January 31, in conjunction with the eve of Thaipusam, as carried out annually.
State executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said the celebration will be held under the bridge near Batu Caves, in line with the location used for previous celebrations.
In addition to organising the celebration, the state government will also present assistance cheques to Hindu temples in Selangor as part of the programme.
“The disbursement of the assistance will be carried out through the first phase, involving temples that meet the stipulated terms and criteria.
“In this first phase, we expect approximately 50 temples to be selected as recipients,” he said during a media conference in Selayang today.
Papparaidu added that only eligible temples that submit complete documentation will be considered for assistance.
