KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 — Pertubuhan Kebajikan Bayu Raudhah Sabah has stressed that the #JusticeForZara Fund is being managed with full transparency and accountability to assist the family of the late Zara Qairina Mahathir, as well as to support expenses related to the ongoing inquest proceedings.

Its secretary, Sitti Fhaizah Mukthar, said all funds collected are meticulously recorded and utilised solely for designated purposes, including documentation expenses, expert services, logistics and accommodation, as well as meetings and other related operational needs.

“All expenditure is supported by receipts and official documentation, to ensure full accountability,” she said in a statement today.

According to a brief report on the fund, she said the fundraising exercise held from September 8 to 12, 2025 raised a total of RM255,016.27.

Of this amount, RM162,155.87 has been spent, leaving a balance of RM94,096.97 as of December 18.

Sitti Fhaizah said the expenses comprised expert and professional consultations (RM82,747.35), logistics and travel (RM40,435.54), accommodation (RM22,119.28), documentation and communication (RM12,497), meeting and operational requirements (RM4,135.70), and administrative charges and related costs (RM221).

She also explained that the  #JusticeForZara Fund is managed through a dedicated account under the organisation’s name, in line with principles of transparency, accountability and sound financial governance.

Sitti Fhaizah added that the account is overseen by multiple authorised signatories, such representatives from the organisation and the victim’s family, including Zara Qairina's mother, Noraidah Lamat, as well as appointed legal representatives, Shahlan Jufri and Mohd Syarulnizam Mohd Salleh.

“All utilisation and withdrawal of funds from the #JusticeForZara Fund are carried out with the knowledge and consent of Noraidah Lamat, as the mother and representative of the victim’s family, in line with the fund’s purpose of supporting the family’s needs and the inquest proceedings,” she said.

Sitti Fhaizah added that all information and financial records related to the #JusticeForZara Fund have been disclosed to the relevant authorities, and that financial reports may be reviewed by authorities or interested donors through official channels, subject to established procedures.

She also expressed her appreciation to the community for its support and hoped that the collective efforts would bring tangible benefits to Zara Qairina’s family and contribute to the smooth conduct of the ongoing inquest proceedings.
