SHAH ALAM, Dec 20 — The Sepang Municipal Council (MPS) has emerged as the local authority with the highest number of development plan applications in Selangor, reflecting strong investor confidence in the district’s rapid growth potential.
Its president, Ani Ahmad, said MPS recorded 2,208 development plan applications and 470 planning permission applications as of December 8, 2025, with the figures expected to rise further next year.
“These numbers place MPS among the top local authorities in Selangor, alongside the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) and Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ).
“The anticipated increase in investor interest aligns with the First Selangor Plan (RS-1) under the economic strengthening pillar.
“It also supports the development of the Integrated Southern Selangor Development Region (Idriss), which is expected to attract investors and high-impact projects with an estimated gross development value (GDV) of RM1 trillion,” she said when chairing the council’s full board meeting yesterday.
Ani said the council has also allocated approximately RM7.1 million for the construction of a new polo centre, in conjunction with the Silver Jubilee celebration of the Sultan of Selangor’s reign next year.
She added that upgrading works at Taman Tasik Cyberjaya are expected to be completed by July, ahead of the official celebration marking 25 years of the reign of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj in October.
“The upgrading works include the provision of infrastructure such as an access road costing RM4.7 million, as well as landscaping and horse-related facilities amounting to RM2.4 million, aimed at transforming the area into a new polo centre.”
