DENGKIL, Dec 13 — Selangor is offering incentives to departments and agencies that contribute to planting 100,000 trees next year, said state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.
She said the incentives were introduced to ensure the 2026 tree-planting target is met, in line with the state government’s greening agenda.
“Every local council, Land and District Office and department and agency has a goal to plant around 100,000 trees next year to achieve the targeted 11 million trees, as decreed by the Sultan of Selangor (Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj),” she added.

Jamaliah was speaking at the Growing Roots event at Paya Indah Wetlands in Kuala Langat here yesterday.
She said it is up to each department’s creativity to decide on planting methods and mechanisms, including group approaches and data reporting.
She explained that the Selangor State Forestry Department (JPNS) and the Selangor Climate Adaptation Centre (SCAC) will continue to coordinate and monitor tree-planting activities statewide.
The executive councillor emphasised that the persisting commitment reflects the state government’s determination to ensure environmental conservation and greening is done in a planned and effective manner.
“The success of this initiative depends on community and corporate sector participation to encourage tree-planting activities in each area,” Jamaliah said.
