SHAH ALAM, Dec 5 — The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah’s recent technical visit to Beijing, China, highlighted the state’s strategic drive to strengthen youth exchange and high-tech industry linkages.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said that His Highness’ visit, accompanied by his consort Datin Paduka Seri Afzaa Fadini Abdul Aziz, kicked off at the Beijing Normal University for the Southeast Asia Entrepreneurship Education Network Programme

In a Facebook post, he said the event was organised by Unesco’s International Research and Training Centre for Rural Education (Inruled).

Tengku Amir delivered his royal address, stating that modern education must evolve beyond the traditional transfer of knowledge.

“Education must cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset. Such a way of thinking will empower young people with the ability to turn societal challenges into new opportunities for innovation,” said His Highness.

The visit continued at Tsinghua University, where the delegation took part in the ‘Tsinghua Global Youth Dialogue,’ a platform that brings together young talents from Malaysia, China, Singapore, and beyond for intellectual exchange.

During a dinner with Malaysian students in Beijing, Tengku Amir shared his personal experience of military training, emphasising the importance of inner strength and perseverance.

“Resilience is not about who is the strongest, but about the ability to keep moving forward even when each step feels heavier than the last,” said the Raja Muda.

His Highness also encouraged students to eventually return home with renewed confidence and ideas, and to contribute to the nation’s future with integrity.

Meanwhile, Ng said that the present BANI (brittle, anxious, nonlinear, and incomprehensible) era has driven Selangor to evolve its strategy from preventing brain drain to promoting brain circulation.

“We see that experts and talents abroad as super-connectors.  Whether you are in Beijing or in Silicon Valley, you are the bridge that links Selangor to the world,” he said.

The delegation also made corporate visits to major companies with strategic ties to Selangor, including the Alibaba Headquarters, the Bridge Data Centres, and the China Harbour Engineering Company, to further strengthen bilateral cooperation in innovation and industry development.
