SHAH ALAM, Nov 29 — The state government is committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of flood victims amid the current inclement weather, said state executive councillor for public health and environment Jamaliah Jamaluddin.

She said her visit to the temporary relief centres (PPS) at SK Salak, Taman Gemilang Community Hall, and Dengkil Community Hall aimed to assess evacuees’ needs, including from a health aspect.

“During my visit, I met with victims to identify their needs and assure their safety and health would be guaranteed throughout their stay at the PPS,” she said in a statement today.

Jamaliah said the state government encourages flood victims to take several steps, such as:

  • Lodging a police report for any damage or losses due to floods to facilitate aid delivery and claims

  • Remain at PPS until floods fully recede

  • Immediately inform health officers if experiencing physical or mental health problems

She added that all agencies, including security teams, health officers, and volunteers, have been mobilised to prioritise the people’s safety.

Jamaliah said disaster monitoring will continue to ensure each victim receives appropriate aid and can go home to a safe residence.
