PETALING JAYA, Nov 23 — The Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin graced the Kota Damansara Car Boot Sale (CBS), held in conjunction with the Sustainable Economy programme today.
Her Royal Highness' arrival was welcomed by the Selangor Women's Welfare and Charity Organisation's (Pekawanis) President Datin Seri Masdiana Muhammad and Petaling Jaya Mayor Mohamad Zahri Samingon.
Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin spent 30 minutes visiting the second-hand goods stalls, making purchases and engaging warmly with traders and visitors.
Her Royal Highness also visited the HRH Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Gallery, the PJ Eco Plaza Counter, the MBPJ Awards Exhibition, and various service booths specially set up for the Sustainable Economy @ CBS Kota Damansara programme.

The event grew livelier with the Tengku Permaisuri's presence, who took part in the second-hand sale featuring items from Her Royal Highness’ own pre-loved clothing collection, priced from as low as RM5.
Meanwhile, Zahri said that the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBSJ) aims to make the programme an annual event, with varied content to attract more visitors.
He said that Sustainable Economy @ CBS Kota Damansara was organised as an initiative to give back to the community, utilising part of the proceeds collected from plastic bag charges imposed on shoppers.

“There are already many visitors here, particularly because of CBS. And today, with the Tengku Permaisuri Selangor joining the second-hand sale, even more people have come.
“We are planning to make it an annual event, but with different components. We want to involve all parties, especially non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and other stakeholders,” Zahri told Media Selangor.
For the record, CBS Kota Damansara began operating in 2017 with 250 trading lots, which increased to 459 in 2022 due to high demand from traders.
