SUBANG JAYA, Nov 23 — The inaugural Selangor Hawkers and Small Traders Day (HPPKS) 2025 at The Roundabout @ Putra Heights has proven its impact, with some traders recording sales increases of up to 100 per cent.

Buko Cedok Jelly Ball trader Nurul Atika Mustafa, who has been operating under the Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) for the past two years, said that previously, with a price of RM10, she managed to sell up to 100 cups a day.

“This menu is inspired by the Philippines. I used to sell jelly-based desserts, then when the jelly ball trend went viral, I adapted it into buko cedok jelly ball. That is what makes it special.

“Alhamdulillah (God be praised), my sales increased by 100 per cent throughout HPPKS. The response was incredible, with many new customers coming to try it,” she told Media Selangor.

Nurul, who won the Cleanest and Most Customer-Friendly Hawker Award, said it was an unexpected achievement that she described as recognition of her efforts in maintaining cleanliness and customer comfort.

Meanwhile, Fruit Addicts trader Chan Seong Wee emerged as the winner of the Highest Selangor Platform (PLATS) Coupon Usage Award by Local Authority category, representing the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) at HPPKS 2025.

He said that throughout the event, they received an excellent response, with more than 100 cups of juice sold, generating between RM600 and RM1,000 in sales and 300 transactions, most of which used PLATS coupons.

“We use quality fruits, pure juice. At my outlet, I have over 100 types of juices. One of the best sellers is avocado.

“I am thrilled and did not expect to win. Thank you to the Fruit Addicts team, who always prepare the best juices for our customers,” Chan said.

Elsewhere, Kopi Opu trader Kartinie Ramli, operating under the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), was announced as the Best Stall (Local Authority Pavilion) winner.

Kartinie, who has been trading at Dataran Shah Alam for two years, said she did not expect to be chosen, especially as the classic decoration theme was only announced at the last minute.

“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy to be selected. The theme was given to us at the last minute, so we just brought classic items from my own home and my in-laws’ home,” she said.

Kartinie added that Kopi Opu offers various coffee-based menus, but the main attraction is the Raspberry Latte, a favourite among regular customers at Dataran Shah Alam.

“Each day, we can sell around 50 cups, while on weekends the number exceeds 100 cups,” she said.

With the theme 'Hawkers and Small Traders as Drivers of Selangor’s Digital Economy', the event emphasised increased use of technology and digital transactions among small traders.

HPPKS was organised through a collaboration between Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) MBI and Agrobank, bringing together 2,000 micro and small entrepreneurs, 12 local authorities and government agencies, and attracting 15,000 visitors.

The two-day programme also provided free trading space for small traders to market their products, obtain information on entrepreneurship assistance, and participate in capacity-building activities.
