SHAH ALAM, Nov 20 — The Jom Sabak Bernam app, launched today, makes it easier for tourists to plan their holidays and explore various attractions in the district.
State executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said the app, developed by the Sabak Bernam District Council (MDSB), is expected to increase visitor numbers to northern Selangor and support the Visit Malaysia Year (VMY) 2026 agenda.
“This digital application provides complete information on tourist spots, local products, and small industries, including the Sungai Lang Observatory, which offers close-up views of planets and outer space.
“It also accelerates digitalisation in Sabak Bernam and supports the growth of the local economy,” he said after officiating the app at the State Secretariat Building today.
Fahmi added that the app, funded by the Selangor Standing Committee on Science, Technology, and Innovation, also features homestays offering comfortable accommodation and event facilities, such as for weddings and banquets.
“This initiative allows tourists to enjoy unique and immersive experiences in Sabak Bernam. The state government encourages the use of this application, especially during school holidays, to bring families to experience the beauty and tranquillity of the district,” he said.
The app also promotes local products, including kerepek, chilli sauce, and other small-industry goods to boost the community’s economy.
“Through the Jom Sabak Bernam app, the state government is ready to support the VMY2026 campaign with various monthly programmes like Ban Canal, fishing week at Kelong Paradise and paddy harvesting activities, which are expected to attract tourists and generate income for the community continuously,” Fahmi said.
The public can download the app for free from the Google Play Store for Android users, while the Apple version is expected to launch next year.
