SHAH ALAM, Aug 22 — The Selangor Tourism Master Plan 2026-2030 will focus on two key clusters: Gombak-Hulu Langat and the Royal City of Klang.

State executive councillor for local government and tourism Dato' Ng Suee Lim said the plan, which is incorporated into the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2), also forms part of the preparations for Visit Selangor Year 2026, which targets nine million tourist arrivals.

“This master plan focuses on the development of two key tourism clusters: the Gombak-Hulu Langat Tourism Clusters, which emphasises ecotourism and natural treasures.

“And The Klang Royal City Tourism Cluster, which highlights the historical heritage, arts and culture, and the identity of the state of Selangor,” he said during the Tourism Selangor Iconic Product Awards 2025 held at the MBSA Convention Centre yesterday.

Ng added that the master plan serves as a development guide to strengthen Selangor’s position as the country’s premier tourism destination.

Selangor has maintained its status as the most visited destination in Malaysia for five consecutive years since 2021, recording 36.4 million domestic visitors in 2025, a 5.5 per cent increase compared to the previous year.

“The tourism sector’s performance has also contributed to strengthening the state’s economy, which recorded a gross domestic product (GDP) of RM460.1 billion, representing 26.5 per cent of Malaysia’s total GDP,” he said.

The master plan was launched in conjunction with the Tourism Selangor 2025 Iconic Product Awards presentation ceremony, which also recognised 24 tourism products from across the state.
