KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 — Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd has signed three strategic memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Central Water Reclamation Sdn Bhd (CWR), and Indah Water Konsortium Sdn Bhd (IWK) to develop a water reclamation plant (WRP) in the Klang Valley.
The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof at the Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, and marks the first WRP in the Klang Valley built to strengthen the nation’s water cycle economy agenda.
Under the first MOU, Air Selangor and AWS will develop the WRP in a Klang Valley data operation centre as an important step towards a sustainable digital industry.
The second MOU between Air Selangor and CWR details an agreement on bulk water supply to ensure more efficient reclaimed water output through the WRP.
The third MOU between IWK and CWR focuses on treated bulk effluent supply that would be processed into reclaimed water for industry use.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this cooperation is not just infrastructure development, but an effort to build a circular economy that makes waste a valuable new resource.
“With this step, clean water supply will continue to be prioritised for households and basic needs, while the industry sector can operate sustainably with reclaimed water,” he said in a speech text read by Selangor Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) director Dato’ Johary Anuar.

Amirudin stressed that the WRP is a bold, forward-thinking effort that reevaluates how the state manages its water and plans for future resource management.
Meanwhile, Fadillah highlighted the Selangor leadership in championing practical innovation in water resource management.
“The innovation under the Selangor Water Master Plan 2025-2050 and various water resource strategies strengthen the nation’s resilience in the face of climate change and industrial growth,” he said.
Fadillah called the cooperation between AWS, Air Selangor, IWK and the state government a transformative, timely initiative that would strengthen Malaysia’s sustainable digital infrastructure agenda.
