HULU LANGAT, Nov 6 — The success of two young individuals receiving recognition at the Yayasan Raja Muda Selangor (YRMS) Awards demonstrates that perseverance, discipline, and a passion for learning can nurture a generation that is both knowledgeable and community-minded.
YRMS Student Icon Award recipient Nor Muhammad Muzhaffar Zahalan said the secret to his success lies in his determination not to give up easily and his courage to ask questions whenever faced with academic difficulties.
“I always hold to the principle of never being shy to ask teachers for help. In addition, my participation in various activities has helped me build self-confidence and the courage to take the lead,” he told Media Selangor.
Meanwhile, YRMS Community Engagement Award recipient Nurul Maisarah Mazlan said her interest in volunteerism began during the Covid-19 pandemic when she started assisting at a vaccination centre.
“From there, I realised that volunteer work is not only about helping others but also about becoming aware that there are many people who are less fortunate than us.
“My parents and lecturers have given me a lot of support to remain active in this field because not everyone can commit to this kind of work consistently,” she said.
The YRMS Awards are part of the main programme of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Open Day, organised by the foundation, which aims to recognise the contributions of youth in academia, leadership, and community service.
