KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 6 — A nurse pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court today to a charge of causing serious injury to her neighbour in May, resulting in the victim fracturing a wrist.
Chan Siew Peng, 51, was charged with committing the act against housewife Lim Siew Woi, 55, by repeatedly pushing her grille door, causing a fracture to the victim's right wrist at a condominium unit in Taman Bukit Indah on May 15 at 3.30pm.
The charge was brought under Section 325 of the Penal Code, which provides for a maximum sentence of seven years in prison and a fine, if convicted.
It is understood that the incident occurred because Lim was believed to be making noise, prompting the accused to go to the victim's home.
Earlier, Deputy Public Prosecutor Noor Syafina Mohd Radzuan offered bail of RM10,000 with one surety.
Chan, who was unrepresented, appealed for a reduced bail, citing that she is a single mother and has a 15-year-old son in school.
Judge Mazuliana Abdul Rashid allowed the accused to be released on RM5,000 bail with one surety and set December 10 for the case mention to appoint a lawyer.
