BANTING, Nov 6 — Pantai Morib is undergoing a RM47 million conservation initiative that is set to revitalise the beach and transform it into a popular tourism destination in the Klang Valley.

The project under the Kuala Langat Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS), which began on September 1, 2023, is now 85 per cent done, slightly ahead of schedule.

Its district engineer Mohd Hasrulhisham Abdullah said the initiative is set to restore the sandy beach that was once Morib’s main attraction.

“This means there will be a sandy beach at Pantai Morib. Through this initiative, we are constructing a seawall, and sand will be placed in front of it. We are restoring the sandy beach,” he said during a recent site visit with Media Selangor.

According to Hasrulhisham, the conservation project includes several key components, including breakwaters, a M-shaped pedestrian walkway, and a lighthouse.

Beach nourishment works are also being conducted to restore the shoreline.

“Once completed, visitors will be able to enjoy the beach up close, compared to previously where they could only appreciate the view from afar,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kuala Langat Municipal Council (MPKL) engineer Khairul Darini expressed confidence that the initiative will turn the area into a new tourism hotspot, helping to boost the local economy.

“We are confident that Pantai Morib will emerge as a new tourism destination, which will in turn benefit the local community,” said Harulhisham.
