SHAH ALAM, Nov 5 — The state’s policies and initiatives focus on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to ensure economic progress goes in line with sustainability and the people’s well-being, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
He added that among these efforts are the Selangor Climate Action Plan, First Selangor Plan (RS-1), Smart Selangor Policy, and green development and digitalisation.
“Selangor remains committed to driving sustainable development in line with the SDGs to ensure economic progress doesn’t sacrifice environmental sustainability and people’s well-being.
“With support from the federal government and cooperation between agencies, Selangor will continue to be the main driver of sustainable development in Malaysia,” he wrote on Facebook.
Earlier, Amirudin attended the National SDG Meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya today.
The meeting was held to assess SDG implementation progress at the national and international levels, and covered Selangor’s role in pursuing Agenda 2030.
In November last year, Amirudin said Selangor made history as the first state in Malaysia to submit an SDG report to the United Nations.
He said the Voluntary Sub-National Review (VSR) was prepared by PLANMalaysia Selangor in 2022 and submitted a year later, with six Selangor local councils having also submitted their Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs).
They were the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ), Klang Royal City Council (MBDK), Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang), Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ), and Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS).
