SHAH ALAM, Nov 4 — The Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) will continue to be enhanced to ensure its vision remains relevant and capable of translating the state’s aspirations in line with current economic needs.

State executive councillor for investment, trade, and mobility Ng Sze Han said bold measures must be taken to ensure the annual summit continues to strengthen Selangor’s position as a competitive and high-value gateway to Asean.

He noted that after eight years of being held, SIBS has now entered a more mature phase and must be expanded in both scope and participation.

“This year, we took a step further by introducing two new components: the Selangor Aerospace Summit (SAS) and the Selangor International Care Summit (SICS).

“SICS was introduced last year as a new economic agenda, while SAS was held without an airshow. Although the transaction values are not as large as those of other sectors, both summits are crucial for building the foundation of their respective industries and raising public awareness,” Ng told Media Selangor.

He added that SIBS is not solely focused on transaction value but serves as a strategic platform to bring together investors, industry players, and government agencies to strengthen the state’s economic ecosystem.

SIBS 2025, held from October 8 to October 11 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), recorded potential transactions worth RM8.17 billion, further solidifying Selangor’s reputation as a leading business and investment hub in Southeast Asia.

Organised by Invest Selangor Berhad, the ninth edition featured 740 booths and 581 exhibitors, including participants from 10 Malaysian states and representatives from across the Asia-Pacific region.

In addition to SICS and SAS, SIBS also comprised six other key components: the Selangor Industrial Park and Investment Convention (Spark), the Selangor Asean Business Conference (SABC), the Selangor International Food and Beverage Expo (SIE F&B), and the Selangor Smart City and Digital Economy Convention (SDEC).

Spark recorded the highest potential transaction value at RM6.96 billion, followed by SABC (RM844 million), SDEC (RM208 million), SIE F&B (RM96.97 million), SAS (RM52.07 million), and SICS (RM5.1 million).
