Selangor Heritage Food Festival promises excitement, set to create two new records

SHAH ALAM, Oct 30 — The public is invited to join the Selangor Heritage Food Festival 2025, which will take place on Saturday (November 1) from 8am to 4pm at the Kuala Selangor Sports Complex.

The annual event, rich in cultural and traditional elements, promises a variety of exciting activities celebrating the state’s heritage and gastronomy while recreating the nostalgic atmosphere of a classic village.

Visitors are encouraged to dress in traditional attire or rustic styles to complement the festival’s theme, which highlights the cultural identity and shared heritage of Selangor’s diverse communities.

This year’s edition will be especially memorable, as it aims to set two new records in the Malaysia Book of Records — for the most extensive distribution of lempeng sagu biji mata ikan and the largest lighthouse formation made of Beppa Pute’ cakes in Malaysia.

In addition to showcasing traditional dishes, the festival will feature 13 main activities, including cooking demonstrations, community cooking competitions, cultural performances, and local product sales.

Previously, the state executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the festival not only celebrates the unique culinary heritage of Selangor but also serves as a major attraction for both local and international visitors.

“The Selangor Heritage Food Festival is not just about introducing traditional cuisine, but also about recognising heritage food artisans and practitioners from across the state,” he said.

Borhan added that the event aligns with the goals of Visit Selangor Year 2025, which aims to attract over eight million domestic and international tourists to the state.
