SHAH ALAM, Oct 29 — The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) has become Selangor’s first local authority to introduce a digital burial application system, i-PUSARA, to facilitate next-of-kin’s affairs in event of loved ones’ deaths.
MBSA assistant legal officer Mohd Yusri Ab Malek said the online system allows people to manage burial applications, make payments, and find a burial lot digitally without having to visit a counter.
“Before, the process was manual, but with this system, it can be done in a mere 10 minutes.
“Next-of-kin can also find burial lots through the app,” he said when met at the Festival of Ideas @ Selangor (FOI@Selangor) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) here recently.
Yusri said the platform also solves the issue of payments, as previously, transactions were only processed on working days, but are now available around the clock.
“The MBSA also provides the same facility for Hindus and Christians through the i-PUSARA system,” he added.
He also said all transactions on the i-PUSARA website are processed transparently without hidden charges, but they only cover funeral arrangements and not external body management.
FOI@Selangor, held over the weekend, also featured tourism, heritage, banking, entrepreneurial, science and technology booths.
The event was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
