KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 — The authorities have completed an investigation paper (IP) on the alleged extortion and molestation involving three policemen against a female student and referred the case to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's Office (DPP) today for further action.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said that currently, the three personnel are still on duty, but if the DPP orders charges to be filed, all three will be suspended immediately.
"The three personnel are still on duty but are not involved in any field assignments. They are currently assigned to temporary internal duties while awaiting further instructions from the DPP.
"We will not compromise with any officer who violates the law or tarnishes the image of the force. Appropriate action will be taken based on the investigation findings and the prosecution's directive," he said in a statement today.
Fadil added that a proposal was made for the first suspect to be charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code (for outrage of modesty), while all three suspects will be charged under Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion.
At the same time, disciplinary investigations against the three members are also being conducted simultaneously by the Bukit Aman Integrity and Standards Compliance Department (JIPS).
Previously, reports went viral claiming that police detained a female student and her boyfriend while they were at Jalan Sentul Pasar on September 17.
The victim claimed she was told to have sex with one of the police officers or pay RM10,000. Based on the report, it is believed that the student was also molested by one of the police officers during a discussion.
