Entrepreneurs hope upcoming state budget focuses on funding, digitalisation

SHAH ALAM, Oct 28 — Local entrepreneurs hope that the 2026 Selangor Budget will continue to prioritise financial support, the strengthening of digital literacy, and broader opportunities for business development.

Homegrown Checkgoo Resources operator Intan Shaidatul Shima Mohd Shariff, 39, said financial injections for local entrepreneurs should be increased to help them strengthen competitiveness and adapt to current economic developments.

“In addition to financial aid, I hope the state government can offer more intensive classes that integrate digital elements in business, as today’s entrepreneurs need not only financial literacy but also digital skills to remain relevant,” she told Media Selangor.

Meanwhile, Crystal Sofea Resources operator Nor Hasiza Omar, 58, said additional capital is particularly crucial for micro-entrepreneurs to expand their operations and grow their existing businesses.

“Many small entrepreneurs have great potential, but a lack of capital is the main obstacle to their growth. We hope this year’s Selangor Budget will provide more space and opportunities for this group,” she said.

For IQ Furniture Enterprise operator Hazizan Kamarudin, 46, he hopes the state government can provide special grants to help the furniture sector acquire new machinery and upgrade models and product lines.

“The kitchen cabinet industry requires significant capital, so assistance in the form of machinery or equipment would greatly help to improve productivity and the quality of local products,” she said.
