KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 27 — Perak and Kedah counted 1,514 flood victims still sheltering at 13 temporary relief centres (PPS) tonight.
Perak
Floods are gradually improving, with the number of victims in three districts tonight dropping to 467 people from 136 families, from 603 people (183 families) this evening.
According to the Perak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) secretariat, the number of victims at the PPS in SK Matang in the Larut, Matang and Selama (LMS) district remain at 27 people (7 families), while 288 people (83 families) are housed at the PPS in SK Sungai Batu, SAR Padang Serai, and SK Pantai Remis in the Manjung district.
A total of 152 people from 46 families are still at Dewan Serbaguna Gunung Semanggol and SK Parit Haji Aman in the Kerian district.
Another PPS, that housed 110 flood victims at SMK Layang-Layang Kiri, Parit, in the Perak Tengah district, was closed at 5.30pm today.
Kedah
The number of evacuees increased to 1,047 people (311 families) tonight at seven PPS, from 915 people (267 families) this evening.
The Kedah JPBN said that in Pendang, there are 544 people (150 families) sheltering at three PPS: Dewan Kompleks Rakan Sukan Tanah Merah, SK Ayer Puteh, and SK Tunku Intan Shafinaz, the latter of which was opened at 4pm today.
In Kota Setar, 331 people (92 families) are placed in two PPS: SK Taman Aman and SK Haji Idris, which opened at 2.30pm today.
“In the Kulim district, the Dewan Serbaguna Pokok Sena PPS houses 116 people from 33 families, and 56 people from 36 families are taking shelter at SK Merbau Pulas,” read the statement.
The Public Infobanjir website reported that one river in Kedah has exceeded the danger level, which is Sungai Pendang (3.49m), while Sungai Padang Terap in Kubang Pasu has exceeded the warning level (3.67m).
