KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 24 — An unemployed man pleaded guilty in the Sessions Court today to a charge of injuring his 10-year-old daughter with a machete two days ago.
However, Judge Azrol Abdullah set October 29 for the case facts and sentencing.
K. Vejesh, 49, was charged with voluntarily causing hurt to his child at a flat unit in Setapak, Wangsa Maju, at 1.30am on Wednesday (October 22).
He was charged under Section 324 of the Penal Code and can be punished under Section 326A of the same Code, which carries a maximum imprisonment of 10 years, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of these punishments, upon conviction.
Under Section 326A of the Penal Code, the accused faces a penalty of up to twice the maximum term of imprisonment for the offence.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Shakila Mohd Shariff prosecuted the case, while Vejesh was unrepresented.
