SHAH ALAM, Oct 23 — The public must be educated to assess issues holistically and based on facts rather than emotions or assumptions, stressed Senator Jufitri Joha.
He said that the tendency to hastily assign blame without understanding the root of a problem only worsens the situation and hinders efforts to find real solutions.
“It is easy for us to point fingers, but we must realise that the responsibility to resolve problems begins with ourselves.
“Democratic and political education is also crucial, not only for the people but also for those in government who serve as role models for society and influence the thinking of the younger generation,” Jufitri said.
He was speaking as a panellist at the 'Education Reform and Contemporary Challenges: With Direction or Without?' forum, organised by the state government at the Raja Tun Uda Library yesterday.

Jufitri added that efforts to address various societal issues must begin with correcting one’s way of thinking, echoing Algerian philosopher Malek Bennabi’s belief that meaningful change can only occur when people achieve “intellectual independence.”
The forum, moderated by Selangor Student Development Secretariat Head Mohd Hidayat Mohd Sauffi, also featured Batu Tiga state assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid, the National Union of the Teaching Profession's (NUTP) president Aminuddin Awang, and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) vice-chancellor Prof Dato' Md Amin Md Taff.
Earlier, the forum was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, who also attended the discussion, reflecting the state government’s commitment to ensuring that the direction of education reform remains on the right track.
