KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — The remand order against a male student suspected of being involved in the fatal stabbing of a 16-year-old female schoolmate at a school in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya, has been extended for another seven days until October 28.
Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Shamsudin Mamat said the remand extension order for the 14-year-old was issued by the Petaling Jaya Magistrate’s Court this morning after the initial remand period ended today.
“The suspect has had his remand extended for seven days until October 28,” he said in a statement today, adding that the investigation papers would be referred to the Deputy Public Prosecutor tomorrow for further instructions.
Yesterday, Shamsudin said police had so far recorded statements from 148 individuals to assist in the investigation.
Last Wednesday, Magistrate Shahril Anuar Ahmad Mustapha issued a seven-day remand order against the student to assist police investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
In the incident on October 14, a female student died at the school after she was stabbed in the chest and neck by a schoolmate.
