KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 — Jealousy is believed to have been the motive behind the stabbing of two siblings by a foreign man at Taman Sri Bintang, Kepong early this morning.
Sentul district police chief ACP Anuar Bakri Abdul Salam said preliminary investigations found that the suspect had allegedly attacked one of the victims after she was believed to have resumed contact with her former boyfriend.
The Sentul district police headquarters' (IPD) District Control Centre received a call via MERS999 from a member of the public at 5.04am, informing that a man had broken into a residence.
“Upon arriving at the scene, police found burn marks on the exterior of the house and discovered two siblings who were injured and hiding in a bathroom on the ground floor.
“Police then went upstairs and found the suspect in a room holding a knife. The suspect was arrested, and the knife believed to have been used in the incident was seized,” he said in a statement today.
Both victims, who are locals, and the suspect, who also sustained stab wounds, were taken to the Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment.
“The case is being investigated under Sections 326 and 435 of the Penal Code. Members of the public with information about the incident are urged to contact the Sentul IPD Operations Room at 03-4048 2222 or any nearby police station,” Anuar said.
