KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 — Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh congratulated national para athlete Mohamad Yusof Hafizi Shaharuddin for winning Malaysia’s first ever gold medal in the 2025 World Para Track Cycling Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

She said Mohamad Yusof was not only the world champion in the category MC1 200 metre (m) sprint but also the first para athlete to bring home the Rainbow Jersey.

“The Rainbow Jersey is the symbol of the prestigious cycling world championship. Malaysia is proud of you and the entire Malaysian para track cycling team,” she posted on Facebook yesterday.

Mohamad Yusof beat Spaniard Ricardo Ten Argiles and neutral athlete Ivan Ermakov to win his second medal at the tournament, after his silver in the MC1 category 1 kilometre event.
