KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 — The combination of plant beauty and folklore has become a medium for educating the younger generation.

The Kuala Lumpur City Hall's (DBKL) Landscape and Recreation Development Department's senior assistant director Khairul Amin Mirsa Hussain said the approach serves as a unique attraction at the Mystical Titiwangsa Exhibition, held in conjunction with the Kuala Lumpur Park Festival 2025.

“The idea emerged when we wanted to introduce something different and improved compared to 2023, while still maintaining an educational concept.

“Hence, this year we are blending various folk tales such as Si Tanggang, Puteri Hang Li Po, Batu Belah Batu Bertangkup, Ulek Mayang, and Puteri Gunung Ledang, with elements of unique plants.

“With this combination, children can not only learn about unique plant species but also gain a detailed understanding of folk stories that impart moral lessons for life,” he told Media Selangor during the exhibition.

The Kuala Lumpur Park Festival 2025, which began on Friday (October 17), is being held concurrently with the Asean Summit.

Among the attractions besides Mystical Titiwangsa are the Asean Halal Food Festival, the KL Genta: Drum and Dance Festival, as well as several artistic performances showcasing the region’s rich cultural diversity.

Running until October 26, Kuala Lumpur Mayor Datuk Seri Maimunah Mohd Sharif said this year’s event not only promotes a healthy lifestyle and urban sustainability but also serves as a platform to strengthen regional community ties through art, culture, and green innovation.
