WCE issue: State govt to meet Kg Jawa residents soon

SHAH ALAM, Oct 20 — Selangor will hold another meeting regarding the West Coast Expressway (WCE) project's construction in Kampung Jawa, Klang, after Deepavali, following requests from its residents.

State executive councillor for housing and culture Datuk Borhan Aman Shah said the meeting, initially scheduled for last week, has been postponed to a new date, likely October 29.

“This issue involves public interest. The project has only about 150 metres left to be completed, and any further delay could affect traffic flow.

"The state government is taking a consultative approach to ensure that any decision made does not compromise the rights of the residents,” he said after presenting the Selangor State Arts Awards (ASN) 2025 at the Mardhiyyah Hotel yesterday.

Borhan added that he hopes the upcoming meeting, which will involve the WCE concessionaire, the State Government, and the landowners, will yield the best possible resolution.

An estimated 52 landowners are affected by the project's route, and while the majority have accepted compensation, 19 landowners who were paid through their lawyers reportedly have yet to vacate their land, citing insufficient compensation as the reason.
