Four foreigners plead guilty to unlawful possession of over 4,000kg of LPG

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 17 — Four foreign men pleaded guilty at the Bandar Baru Bangi Magistrate's Court today to a charge of possessing 4,002kg of liquefied petroleum gas without a license.

Indonesian nationals Fauzan, 25; Yusrijal, 26; Ridwanuddin, 24; and Myanmar national Myo Naing Oo, 44, made the plea before Magistrate Nurdiyanah Mohd Nawawi.

The court did not allow them bail and set Friday (October 24) to hear the facts of the case and for sentencing.

Meanwhile, local man S. Dashenthiran, 27, pleaded not guilty to the same charge, and the court set the same date for mention.

The five individuals involved were jointly charged, together with another person still at large, with possessing a scheduled controlled substance, namely 4,002kg of liquefied petroleum gas, without a license, which violates Regulation 3(1) of the Supply Control Regulations 1974 at a premises in Semenyih at 5pm on Wednesday (October 15).

The charge, framed under Section 21(1) of the Control of Supplies Act 1961 and is punishable under Section 22(1) of the same law, provides a maximum fine of RM1 million or imprisonment not exceeding three years or both, while for a second and subsequent offence, a maximum fine of RM5 million or imprisonment not exceeding five years or both upon conviction.

The prosecution was conducted by prosecuting officer Ulul Azmi Khairil Amri from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, while all the accused were unrepresented.
