BALIK PULAU, Oct 16 — Police have arrested a man who works as a facilitator, for investigations, after four Year 6 male students claimed they were molested during a motivational camp in Kampung Genting here.
Barat Daya police chief Sazalee Adam said the 33-year-old facilitator was arrested at his home in Sungai Petani, Kedah, at about 9pm yesterday after police received a report on the incident.
“Based on a police report filed by the headmaster of the Year 6 pupils, the incident occurred on October 12 during a motivational programme involving a national school from Kerian, Perak, at the camp.
“According to the four students, they were asleep in the middle of the night in the dormitory housing male students before the suspect allegedly molested them by touching parts of their bodies,” he said at the Barat Daya police headquarters here today.
He said that based on investigations, the suspect was a guest facilitator at the camp and the victims only disclosed the incident to the headmaster upon returning from the programme.
According to Sazalee, the suspect, who is married and has two children, has been remanded for seven days until October 21 for investigation under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
